Abstract:
ABSTRACTS: This Master's research is linked to the Postgraduate Program in Education at the Universidade
Federal do Piauí, within the line of research of Education, Diversity/Difference and Inclusion, presenting as its object of study the “Guardians of knowledge of Piauí: educational practices and affections of the matriarchs Dona Depa and Chica Lera”. The overall objective is to understand the knowledge, educational practices, and affections of these women, based on their matriarchal narratives derived from oral tradition. Specifically, the objectives are: to map women guardians and their life stories in communities in Piauí, observing their knowledge, educational practices, and affections; to identify matriarchal characteristics of Dona Depa and Chica Lera, based on their practices, knowledge, and affections, as described in their oral traditions; to analyze, in their oral traditions, the relationship between the transmission processes and the strengthening of the sense of community belonging; and to create artistic and
pedagogical devices, based on their oral traditions, as tools for historical reparation. As a research question, the following arises: what are the knowledge, educational practices, and affections that Black, elderly women, matriarchs of their communities in Piauí, bring in their oral traditions? Therefore, to understand the dynamics of the matriarchs' existences, the following methodologies were used Cartographies (Deleuze; Guattari, 1995) in conjunction with Oral History (Thompson, 1992) and Leda Maria Martins’s Oralituras (2003) for the analysis process, since it is understood that the participants are not configured as objects of research, but as lives in the process of constructing their historicity. In the data production technique, the storytelling device was used with the short story “The woman, the well, and the road” authored by the researcher. In this cartographic process, the territories of the research were mapped: the Quilombo Curral Velho, in the municipality of São João do Piauí, where
Dona Depa (97 years old) lives, and the Fortaleza IV Settlement, in the municipality of
Esperantina, where Chica Lera (86 years old) lives. The research is understood as a rhizomatic field, in which the bodies and territories of these matriarchal women and their communities manifest themselves in multiplicity, making linear views in search of pre-determined concepts impossible. Thus, the research sources diverge from the Eurocentric view, overcoming colonizing barriers, having as theoretical paradigms Hampâté Bâ (1999), Oliveira (2018), Carneiro (2023), Kilomba (2019), Bispo (2019), Fanon (2022), Santos (2010), Souza; Boakari (2013), Sodré (2002), Hooks (2017; 2023), Crenshaw (2002), González (1984), Silva (2020), Sousa (2020), Mbembe (2013), Vaz e Ramos (2021), Deleuze e Guattari (1995), Kastrup (2015) e Martins (2003). By recording the oral traditions of these Black women, matriarchs of traditional communities in Piauí, invisible knowledge was identified, from which one can learn through their trajectories, traversing pain and suffering, but highlighting the insurgent power of their knowledge, educational practices, and affections. The research reveals that matriarchs Dona Depa and Chica Lera were able to create ways of living in balance with nature and their
ancestry, whatever the existential conditions; their bodies continue to make history and produce modes of resistance, subverting the logic of the coloniality of knowledge, power, and being. The power of these women in their matriarchal oral traditions carries the sharing of ideas and dreams that daily life causes to permeate the heart of the community, moving their peers and giving rise to a sense of community and belonging, a political space for the expression of their matriarchal leadership strengths.
