TÉCNICA E CRISE DOS DESEJOS: UMA ANÁLISE DO CONCEITO DE MASSIFICAÇÃO EM JOSÉ ORTEGA Y GASSET

Abstract

RESUMO: O presente estudo investiga a articulação entre a técnica, a "crise dos desejos" e o fenômeno da massificação na filosofia de José Ortega y Gasset. Parte-se do diagnóstico de uma época que, embora dotada de uma expansão sem precedentes de recursos técnicos, manifesta uma incapacidade crescente de orientar a existência por fins deliberados. O problema central reside na viabilidade de uma vida autêntica — compreendida como projeto vital — em um contexto histórico no qual a facilidade material tende a atrofiar o esforço da vontade e da decisão. Fundamentada no raciovitalismo orteguiano, a pesquisa compreende a vida como realidade radical: uma tarefa executada na tensão constante entre o eu, a circunstância e a história. Sob essa ótica, a técnica não é vista como mero instrumento externo, mas como a forma histórica de organização das possibilidades de viver. Com base em uma análise hermenêutica das obras Meditação sobre a Técnica, A Rebelião das Massas e O Homem e os Outros, o trabalho reconstrói a ontologia da técnica enquanto fabricação de um mundo habitável e examina como a superabundância de meios pode favorecer a massificação do sujeito. Por fim, exploram-se as respostas éticas de Ortega — notadamente o ensimesmamento e a vida nobre — como vias para a recuperação da autonomia e do projeto existencial no interior da civilização técnica contemporânea. ABSTRACT: This study investigates the articulation between technology, the “crisis of desires,” and the phenomenon of massification in the philosophy of José Ortega y Gasset. It begins from the diagnosis of an age which, although marked by an unprecedented expansion of technical resources, increasingly reveals an inability to orient existence by deliberate ends. The central problem concerns the viability of an authentic life — understood as a vital project — within a historical context in which material ease tends to atrophy the effort of will and decision. Grounded in Ortega’s raciovitalism, the research understands life as radical reality: a task carried out in the constant tension between the self, circumstance, and history. From this perspective, technology is not treated as a merely external instrument, but as the historical form through which the possibilities of living are organized. Through a hermeneutic analysis of Meditation on Technology, The Revolt of the Masses, and Man and People, the work reconstructs the ontology of technology as the making of a habitable world and examines how a superabundance of means can degenerate into the massification of the subject. Finally, it explores Ortega’s ethical responses—especially self-recollection and the noble life—as paths toward recovering autonomy and the capacity to pursue an existential Project within contemporary technical civilization.
