GUARDIÃS DE SABERES DO PIAUÍ: FAZERES EDUCATIVOS E AFETOS DAS MATRIARCAS DONA DEPA E CHICA LERA

GUARDIÃS DE SABERES DO PIAUÍ: FAZERES EDUCATIVOS E AFETOS DAS MATRIARCAS DONA DEPA E CHICA LERA
VASCONCELOS, Thallyta Castelo Branco
ABSTRACTS: This Master's research is linked to the Postgraduate Program in Education at the Universidade
Federal do Piauí, within the line of research of Education, Diversity/Difference and Inclusion, presenting as its object of study the “Guardians of knowledge of Piauí: educational practices and affections of the matriarchs Dona Depa and Chica Lera”. The overall objective is to understand the knowledge, educational practices, and affections of these women, based on their matriarchal narratives derived from oral tradition. Specifically, the objectives are: to map women guardians and their life stories in communities in Piauí, observing their knowledge, educational practices, and affections; to identify matriarchal characteristics of Dona Depa and Chica Lera, based on their practices, knowledge, and affections, as described in their oral traditions; to analyze, in their oral traditions, the relationship between the transmission processes and the strengthening of the sense of community belonging; and to create artistic and
pedagogical devices, based on their oral traditions, as tools for historical reparation. As a research question, the following arises: what are the knowledge, educational practices, and affections that Black, elderly women, matriarchs of their communities in Piauí, bring in their oral traditions? Therefore, to understand the dynamics of the matriarchs' existences, the following methodologies were used Cartographies (Deleuze; Guattari, 1995) in conjunction with Oral History (Thompson, 1992) and Leda Maria Martins’s Oralituras (2003) for the analysis process, since it is understood that the participants are not configured as objects of research, but as lives in the process of constructing their historicity. In the data production technique, the storytelling device was used with the short story “The woman, the well, and the road” authored by the researcher. In this cartographic process, the territories of the research were mapped: the Quilombo Curral Velho, in the municipality of São João do Piauí, where
Dona Depa (97 years old) lives, and the Fortaleza IV Settlement, in the municipality of
Esperantina, where Chica Lera (86 years old) lives. The research is understood as a rhizomatic field, in which the bodies and territories of these matriarchal women and their communities manifest themselves in multiplicity, making linear views in search of pre-determined concepts impossible. Thus, the research sources diverge from the Eurocentric view, overcoming colonizing barriers, having as theoretical paradigms Hampâté Bâ (1999), Oliveira (2018), Carneiro (2023), Kilomba (2019), Bispo (2019), Fanon (2022), Santos (2010), Souza; Boakari (2013), Sodré (2002), Hooks (2017; 2023), Crenshaw (2002), González (1984), Silva (2020), Sousa (2020), Mbembe (2013), Vaz e Ramos (2021), Deleuze e Guattari (1995), Kastrup (2015) e Martins (2003). By recording the oral traditions of these Black women, matriarchs of traditional communities in Piauí, invisible knowledge was identified, from which one can learn through their trajectories, traversing pain and suffering, but highlighting the insurgent power of their knowledge, educational practices, and affections. The research reveals that matriarchs Dona Depa and Chica Lera were able to create ways of living in balance with nature and their
ancestry, whatever the existential conditions; their bodies continue to make history and produce modes of resistance, subverting the logic of the coloniality of knowledge, power, and being. The power of these women in their matriarchal oral traditions carries the sharing of ideas and dreams that daily life causes to permeate the heart of the community, moving their peers and giving rise to a sense of community and belonging, a political space for the expression of their matriarchal leadership strengths.

MODELAGEM DO CRESCIMENTO E BALANÇO DIETÉTICO DA PROTEÍNA PARA GALINHA-D’ANGOLA (Numida Meleagris)
ABSTRACT: The guinea fowl (Numida meleagris) represents a promising alternative for diversifying tropical poultry farming, but scientific information on growth, nutrition, and performance is still lacking. This study comprehensively evaluated growth modeling, phenotypic differences between males and females, and the effect of diets with different protein balances on production performance, carcass yield, meat quality, and economic viability. A total of 235 birds were used from hatch to 120 days of age, with average initial weights of 32.28 g and final weights of 2141.32 g. The Brody, Von Bertalanffy, Logistic, Gompertz, and Richards models were tested, with the Gompertz mixed-structure model presenting the best fit, according to the Akaike and Bayesian information criteria. The curve indicated an inflection point near 45 days, with rapid
growth until 64 days, followed by a deceleration. Between 43 and 64 days, greater variability in weights was observed, which decreased after 78 days, suggesting growth stabilization. In the phenotypic evaluation between sexes, males had an asymptotic weight (Wm) of 2319 g, while females were on average 56 g lighter (p = 0.031). The growth rate (b) was 0.031 day-1 in males and 0.026 day-1 in females, with a significant difference (p = 0.019). The inflection point (t*) was estimated at 45 days in males, not differing statistically from females (p = 0.298). The analyses revealed sexual dimorphism, with males exhibiting greater growth potential, but females with greater individual variability. For nutritional evaluation, 160 17-day-old birds were used. The experimental diets were: (i) protein balancing while maintaining crude protein
requirement (BPPB) and (ii) protein balancing with reduced crude protein requirement
(BPLPB), both adjusted for lysine and essential digestible amino acids (methionine + cystine, threonine, and tryptophan). The diets were formulated based on corn, soybean, gluten meal, synthetic amino acids, and vitamin and mineral supplements. Performance results between 17 and 90 days showed that the BPLPB diets, despite containing lower crude protein, did not compromise weight gain, feed intake, or feed conversion compared to the BPPB diet. Carcass yield at 90 days was similar between treatments, with no detriment to meat quality (pH, color, tenderness, and cooking losses). From an economic point of view, the diet with reduced crude protein had lower formulation costs and higher financial return, demonstrating its feasibility for practical application. Taken together, the results confirm that: (i) the mixed Gompertz model is the most appropriate to describe the species' growth; (ii) there is sexual dimorphism, with a growth advantage for males; (iii) reducing crude protein in amino acid-balanced diets maintains productive performance and improves economic efficiency. Thus, the research contributes to
consolidating the guinea fowl as a sustainable and profitable alternative in tropical poultry farming, offering technical support for breeding programs, feed management strategies, and more efficient production practices.

ABSTRACT: The modernization of agriculture has led to the adoption of agricultural practices aimed at increasing food production. However, many of these practices, particularly the use of pesticides, have adverse effects on both the environment and human health. One alternative to mitigate these impacts is the use of traditional knowledge, particularly the use of insecticidal plants for pest control. Nevertheless, due to the need for rapid and effective responses, many farmers are
reluctant to adopt this type of management. In this context, this study aimed to investigate
whether agricultural modernization influences the use of insecticidal plants in an agrarian reform settlement and a rural community in the municipality of Tianguá, Ceará, Brazil. A bibliographic review was conducted using Scopus, Web of Science, and Google Scholar as the primary databases between September and December 2024. The search employed the descriptors “insecticidal plants” AND “traditional knowledge” and “ethnobotany” AND “bioinsecticides,” with no time restriction in order to assess the evolution of research on the topic, resulting in a total of 53 publications. Analysis of these studies revealed that Africa had the highest number of publications, with 2018 standing out as the year with the greatest scientific output. Azadirachta indica A. Juss., Nicotiana tabacum L., Eucalyptus globulus Labill., and Melia azedarach L. were the most frequently cited plant species. Subsequently, free-listing and semi-structured interviews were conducted. The Fidelity Level (FL), associated with the Rank Order Priority (ROP), the Cultural Importance Index (CI), and the chi-square test were used as quantitative analytical tools. Among the 40 farmers interviewed in the São José community, only 12 reported using insecticidal plants. In the Val Paraíso settlement, only 16 of the 47 respondents reported using plant species for insect pest control. Neem (Azadirachta
indica A. Juss.) showed the highest level of consensus among farmers in the São José
community for aphid control, whereas chili pepper (Capsicum chinense Jacq.) was the species with the highest level of consensus for the same pest in the Val Paraíso settlement. In both communities, neem ranked as the highest-priority species according to the Rank Order Priority (ROP) index. No significant association was found between knowledge of insecticidal plants and educational level, or between household income and pesticide use in the São José community, whereas these associations were significant in the Val Paraíso settlement. A participatory methodology was applied to manage traditional knowledge through the development of the Traditional Knowledge Management Framework (QGCT). The pathways of knowledge transmission and the criteria used for selecting insecticidal plants were identified, with 42.5% of the farmers in the São José community reporting that they acquired information from friends, indicating horizontal transmission as the predominant pathway. In the Val Paraíso settlement, 55% of the respondents reported acquiring knowledge from company representatives, indicating oblique transmission as the predominant pathway. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that agricultural modernization influences the criteria for the
selection and transmission of knowledge related to the use of insecticidal plants in the São José community and the Val Paraíso settlement.

Cajazeiras do Piauí.
ABSTRACT: The Caatinga and the Cerrado constitute ecoregions of high ecological relevance in Brazil and, in the northeastern semi-arid region, structure complex vegetation mosaics, especially in transitional areas (ecotones). Despite their biological importance, these systems have been intensely pressured by agricultural expansion and the intensive use of natural resources, resulting in the reduction of native vegetation and biodiversity. This study aimed to evaluate the diversity and structure of phanerogamic flora, land use and land cover dynamics, and the effectiveness of the environmental management policy of the Ecological ICMS in the Vale do Canindé Territory, Piauí. The study was conducted in the municipalities of Tanque do Piauí, Cajazeiras do Piauí, Oeiras, São João da Varjota, Simplício Mendes, and Wall Ferraz, representing Cerrado, Caatinga, and ecotonal areas. Between 2022 and 2024, field expeditions were conducted for floristic survey through random walks and phytosociological sampling using the point-centered quarter method.
The collected species were herborized and identified based on taxonomic keys,
comparison with herbarium collections, and consultation with specialists. The
classification followed the APG IV system, with nomenclatural verification and
conservation status checked on the Flora and Funga of Brazil platform. Changes in Land
Use and Land Cover were evaluated based on MapBiomas data (Collection 2 – beta),
comparing the years 2016 and 2023, and related to socioeconomic indicators from IBGE. The analysis of the effectiveness of the Ecological ICMS was based on documentation referring to the Environmental Seal of the State Secretariat for Environment and Water Resources (SEMARH), in the period from 2021 to 2024, supported by statistical analyses. For the floristics, 151 species were recorded, distributed in 44 families and 112 genera, with predominance of Fabaceae, Bignoniaceae, Malpighiaceae, and Malvaceae. The most representative genera were Cordiera, Cenostigma, Mimosa, and Fridericia. The municipality of Oeiras presented greater floristic diversity and included the rare species Bredemeyera petiolata, in addition to new records in the state of Piauí and near-threatened species, such as Handroanthus serratifolius and Amburana cearensis. The similarity analysis indicated sharing and exclusivity of species among the municipalities, highlighting greater floristic affinity between Oeiras and São João da Varjota, and the ecotonal character of Cajazeiras do Piauí. In the structural analysis, 129 taxa were recorded, distributed in 87 genera and 31 families, with Fabaceae being the most representative. The ecotone areas presented higher diversity indices, especially Oeiras (H’ = 3.51) and São João da Varjota (H’ = 3.06). The species with the highest importance value varied according to the phytophysiognomy, highlighting Pityrocarpa moniliformis in the Cerrado, Cenostigma nordestinum and Callisthene microphylla in the Caatinga. Combretum leprosum was the most abundant species, indicating intermediate successional stages. The diameter distribution in an inverted “J” pattern suggests active regeneration, although under the influence of anthropogenic disturbances. The spatial analysis showed a generalized reduction of native vegetation and expansion of agriculture, with greater expression in Tanque do Piauí (+59.82%) and São João da Varjota (+35.13%), associated with economic dependence on the primary sector. The results of the Ecological ICMS indicated that despite high formal performance, there was a concentration of lower-complexity actions, with low incidence of structural measures and limitations in environmental effectiveness. Thus, this study integrates floristic, structural, spatial, and institutional data, expanding knowledge on the biodiversity of the Caatinga and Cerrado in the Vale do Canindé. It demonstrates that land-use dynamics are associated with socioeconomic factors and the reduction of native vegetation, while the Ecological ICMS acts as an administrative inducement mechanism with limited environmental effectiveness. The data provide technical support for improving public policies, highlighting the need to strengthen structural actions and integrate conservation,
land use, and economic instruments in the territory.
