A CURVATURA MÉDIA TOTAL DE SUBVARIEDADES DO ESPAÇO EUCLIDIANO

Abstract

RESUMO: Neste trabalho, apresentamos uma descrição do comportamento das α-ésimas curvaturas escalares de uma variedade Mⁿ imersa em um espaço Euclidiano Eⁿ⁺ᵖ e obtemos algumas de suas aplicações. Apresentamos uma estimativa da curvatura média total para subvariedades fechadas em Eⁿ⁺ᵖ com curvatura escalar normalizada R não negativa. A partir de tal estimativa, obtemos, ainda, resultados de classi_cação para Mⁿ nas condições acima. A principal referência para esta dissertação é o artigo The Total Mean Curvature of Submanifolds in a Euclidean Space de Zhong-Hua Hou [16]. ABSTRACT: In this paper, we present a description of the behavior of the αth scalar curvatures of a manifold Mⁿ immersed in a Euclidean space Eⁿ⁺ᵖ and we obtain some applications of them. We provide an estimative of the total mean curvature for closed submanifolds in Eⁿ⁺ᵖ with nonnegative normalized scalar curvature R. From such estimative, we present classification results for Mⁿ in the above conditions. The paper The Total Mean Curvature of Submanifolds in a Euclidean Space due to Zhong-Hua Hou [16] is our main reference.
