A PROVINCIA DO PIAUÍ” E A CONSTRUÇÃO DA GUERRA DE INDEPENDENCIA EM 1822-1823

Abstract

RESUMO: Pretende-se com o projeto pesquisar sobre a participação da então província do Piauí no processo de independência do Brasil entre 1822 e 1823, esse tema é oportuno tanto pelo momento histórico como pela ausência de trabalhos que possam dar uma maior notoriedade em nível nacional na historiografia brasileira sobre a perspectiva da participação do Piauí para a consolidação da independência do Brasil. e também da necessidade de mapearmos sobre os percursos da formação do exército independentista formado para lutar na guerra de independência. O estudo será feito a partir da interpretação de um significativo corpo documental disponível junto ao acervo do Museu Ozildo Albano, na cidade de Picos, Piauí. São diversas cartas trocadas entre as lideranças sediciosas do Piauí à época da guerra de independência em 1823. O trabalho busca indicar a importância do Piauí na construção do processo de independência a partir da análise dessas cartas da atuação das elites locais para o estabelecimento e fortalecimento do Estado Imperial. As fontes para a pesquisa serão de natureza arquivista, por exemplo, documentos oficiais (relatórios, requerimentos, cartas, etc), jornais e ofícios, em geral, além da literatura de época e textos memorialísticos. Parte dessa documentação encontram-se acervos de memória do Arquivo Público do Estado do Piauí, no Núcleo de Pesquisa, História e Memória (NUPEM/UFPI) e Biblioteca Nacional Digital do Rio de Janeiro.

ABSTRACT: The project aims to research the participation of the then province of Piauí in the process of Brazilian independence between 1822 and 1823. This topic is timely both due to the historical moment and the lack of works that could give greater notoriety at a national level in Brazilian historiography on the perspective of Piauí's participation in the consolidation of Brazilian independence. It also needs to map the paths of the formation of the independence army formed to fight in the war of independence. The study will be based on the interpretation of a significant body of documents available in the collection of the Ozildo Albano Museum, in the city of Picos, Piauí. There are several letters exchanged between the seditious leaders of Piauí at the time of the war of independence in 1823. The work seeks to indicate the importance of Piauí in the construction of the

independence process based on the analysis of these letters of the actions of local elites for the establishment and strengthening of the Imperial State. The sources for the research will be of an archival nature, for example, official documents (reports, requests, letters, etc.), newspapers and official documents, in general, in addition to period literature and memorial texts. Some of this documentation can be found in the archives of the Public Archive of the State of Piauí, in the Center for Research, History and Memory (NUPEM/UFPI) and in the National Digital Library of Rio de Janeiro.
