A VIDA E A OBRA DE RAUL SEIXAS COMO INSTRUMENTO DE CONHECIMENTO DE SEU TEMPO

Abstract

RESUMO Este trabalho estuda a juventude brasileira entre os anos 1970-1980, tomando como pretexto a vida e a obra de Raul Seixas (1945-1989), artista cuja obra tem sido historicamente vinculada à contracultura brasileira. O principal objetivo do estudo foi apresentar aspectos específicos da vida e da obra do artista baiano, indagando como as suas músicas podem ajudar a conhecer a história da juventude brasileira no período. Como se trata de um período em que o Brasil se encontrava sob uma ditadura militar, período no qual as pessoas — especialmente os artistas — eram em geral definidas como engajadas ou alienadas, a vida e obra de Raul Seixas exclamam uma terceira via existencial, a qual já foi definida como “corpo-transbunde-libertário” (CASTELO BRANCO, 2005). Empiricamente, o trabalho foi suportado por publicações sobre a obra de Raul Seixas, bem como pelo que já se escreveu sobre esta obra. Conceitualmente, o trabalho operou com um variado conjunto de autores — de Theodore Roszak a Félix Guattari.

ABSTRACT This paper studies Brazilian youth between the years of 1970-1980, taking as bases the life and work of Raul Seixas (1945-1989), an artist whose work has been historically linked to Brazilian counterculture. The aim of the study was to present specific aspects of the life and work of the baiano artist, by asking how his songs can help to understand the history of Brazilian youth in this period. Since it is a moment when Brazil was under a military dictatorship, a period in which people - especially artists - were generally defined as either engaged or alienated, the life and work of Raul Seixas exclaims a third existential path, which has been defined as "corpo-transbunde-libertário" (CASTELO BRANCO, 2005). Empirically, the research was supported by publications about the work of Raul Seixas and, as well, by what has already been written about his work. Conceptually, the research worked with a varied set of authors - from Theodore Roszak to Félix Guattari.
