METODOLOGIA: estudo avaliativo do
mulheres.
ABSTRACT:INTRODUCTION: Human papillomavirus infection is responsible for approximately 500,000
new cases of cervical neoplasia worldwide, and it is in adolescence that there is the highest risk
of infection with this virus due to the early onset of sexual activity, unprotected sexual practices,
large numbers of partners, and contact with other Sexually Transmitted Infections. Vaccination
is a relevant strategy for public health because it is a preventive action recognized by the impact
in reducing the morbimortality of immunopreventable diseases. PURPOSE: evaluate the
knowledge, attitude and practice of schoolchildren about vaccination against Human
Papillomavirus. METHODOLOGY: A cross-sectional study of Knowledge, Attitude and
Practice, carried out in 22 public schools in the interior of Piauí, with girls aged 9 to 14 years
and boys aged 11 to 14 years. The sample was calculated based on a margin of error of 3% and
confidence level of 95% and maximum proportion of occurrence of the phenomenon of 50%,
totaling 631 individuals. The data collection took place in rooms reserved from February to
November 2018, through a questionnaire. The data were compiled and analyzed with the help
of statistical software SPSS version 20.0. For the knowledge, attitude and practice analysis we
used the likert scale evaluation items presented in the Classification of Nursing Interventions
Results and for the associations between the variables, the Pearson Chi-square test was used.
The research was approved by the Research Ethics Committee of the Federal University of
Piauí, with an opinion No. 2,429,531 and followed the ethical principles established in
Resolution 466/12 of the National Health Council. RESULTS: Of the 631 interviewees, 56.4%
were women. Age ranged from 9 to 14 years 11 months and 29 days, with a predominance of
11-year-old students. In both sexes, the proportion of individuals with skin color was 44.5%
higher. Most schoolchildren were single 82.4%, Catholic 59.6%, only studied 85.7% and had a
family income less than a minimum wage. The Knowledge, Attitude and Practice survey
allowed us to identify that most students were classified with knowledge, attitude and adequate
practice, 65.9%, 80.5% and 65.8%, respectively. There was a statistically significant
association between knowledge and practice (p = 0.028), there was no statistical significance
in the search for association between attitude and practice (p = 0.663). CONCLUSION: It was
observed that having adequate knowledge increased the probability of having an adequate
practice. Health education involving schoolchildren and family members, scheduled
consultation, active search and strengthening of the School Health Program are alternatives and
proposals that need to be reviewed and evaluated for their effectiveness, since they are essential
for the students' awareness and participation in services to which they are entitled. The
participation of the health professional is essential, especially the nurse, since he is an actor in
adequate actions in the confrontation of health problems. |
