UM ESTUDO ACERCA DO DESEMPENHO DO ESTADO DO PIAUÍ NA OBMEP NO PERÍODO DE 2005 À 2016

Abstract

RESUMO: Partindo do pressuposto da crescente e significativa expansão da Olimpíada Brasileira de Matemática das Escolas Públicas (OBMEP), esta pesquisa tem como objeto de investigação sobre o desempenho dos alunos Piauí nesta competição, tendo como ponto de observação o número de medalhas e o envolvimento dos municípios piauienses entre os anos de 2005 a 2016. Neste trabalho foi feito um levantamento dos dados, cuja abordagem é quanti/qualitativa com objetivo descritivo. O principal objetivo deste trabalho é verificar a desempenho temporal do Piauí na OBMEP, desde seu surgimento até o ano de 2016, a partir do número de medalhas. Os objetivos específicos são: apresentar a definição da OBMEP, apontando seus objetivos, níveis, fases e premiações; descrever o quantitativo de medalhas em cada modalidade; apontar o grau de envolvimento dos municípios frente às edições da OBMEP; e discutir a relação entre quantitativo de medalhas e a abrangência na participação dos municípios do Estado. Primeiramente foi feito um levantamento o estudo mostrou que o Piauí tem bons rendimentos e boa participação na competição, comparado com rendimentos médios dos outros estados do Brasil. ABSTRACT: Based on the assumption of the growing and signicant expansion of the Brazilian Mathematics Olympiad of Public Schools (OBMEP), this research aims the investigation about the performance of Piauí students in this competition, having as a point of observation the number of medals and the involvement of municipalities of this state between the years 2005 to 2016. In this work a data survey was made, whose approach is quantitative and qualitative with a descriptive purpose. The main objective of this work is to verify the temporal performance of Piauí in OBMEP, from its emergence until 2016, based on the number of medals. The specic objectives are: to present the definition of OBMEP, pointing out its objectives, levels, phases and awards; to describe the quantity of medals in each modality; to indicate the degree of involvement of municipalities in relation to the editions of OBMEP; and to discuss the relationship between the number of medals and the comprehensiness to which the municipalities of the State participate. The survey showed that Piauí has good incomes and good participation in the competition, compared to average incomes in other Brazilian states.
