A (RE) CONSTRUÇÃO DO REFERENTE OVERMAN NAS TIRAS CÔMICAS DE LAERTE

Abstract

RESUMO: A presente pesquisa visa investigar os processos referenciais na construção de sentidos das tiras cômicas, considerando para tanto os elementos verbais e visuais como partícipes do processo de significação. Com vistas a alcançar os objetivos propostos, selecionamos um corpus de nove exemplares de tiras cômicas, da série Overman, de Laerte, nos quais a construção dos referentes depende da articulação verbo-visual do texto. A (re) construção do referente Overman (personagem-título) é o foco de nosso estudo. Escolhemos dentro da série três temáticas para sistematizar as análises: ―o herói sem prestígio‖, ―Overman, o tolo‖ e ―Overman, o truculento‖. A ênfase da pesquisa está na consideração de aspectos verbovisuais que auxiliam na (re) construção do referente Overman, não deixando de considerar outros casos presentes nas tiras selecionadas. O interesse pelo trabalho com as histórias em quadrinhos, mais especificamente com as tiras cômicas, dá-se pelos textos do gênero serem facilmente acessíveis, de características híbridas, em que o propósito comunicativo é alcançado num trabalho entre produtor e espectador (para utilizar um termo da GDV). Fundamentamos o trabalho da construção referencial nas categorias aplicadas em textos multimodais elencadas por Custódio Filho (2011), com base em Cavalcante (2003; 2004) e os conceitos de sistemas de significados da Gramática do Design Visual (GDV), de Kress e van Leeuwen (2006), advinda dos estudos em Semiótica Social. Para as apreciações teóricas acerca da perspectiva sociocognitiva, multimodalidade e Referenciação, baseamo-nos em Koch e Cunha-Lima (2007), Koch (2004; 2011), Cavalcante e Custódio Filho (2010), Bentes, Ramos e Alves Filho (2010), Capistrano Jr (2012), Ciulla e Silva (2008), Silva (2013) e Lima (2009). Realizamos a pesquisa da seguinte forma: selecionamos a série em questão e, de um universo de 227 tiras que estão publicadas no site do autor, escolhemos três exemplares das temáticas mais recorrentes, citadas anteriormente; em seguida, verificamos como se deu a construção do referente Overman, que processos de Referenciação foram aplicados na construção de sentido e como as categorias da GDV auxiliam na ampliação da significação desse e de outros referentes nas tiras. Desenvolvemos então as análises, com base na fundamentação teórica adotada, de forma que pudéssemos perceber os aspectos supracitados e, com este estudo, confirmamos nossa hipótese de que a construção de referentes no gênero tira cômica é influenciada diretamente por seu caráter multimodal, sendo os sentidos constituídos na imbricação entre o material verbal e visual. ABSTRACT: This research aims to investigate the referential processes in the construction of senses of comic strips, considering for that verbal and visual elements as participants in the process of signification. In order to achieve the proposed objectives, we selected a corpus of nine copies of comic strips, the Overman of Laerte‘s series, in which the construction of related verbo-visual depends on the joint text. The (re) construction of the referent Overman (main character) is the focus of our study. Among the thematics used in the series we have chosen the three of these to systematize the analysis: "o herói sem prestígio", " Overman, o tolo" and "Overman, o truculento". The research emphasis is on the consideration of verbovisuais aspects that assist in the (re) construction of the referent Overman, not forgetting to consider other cases present in the selected strips. The interest in working with the comics, more specifically with the comic strips, is given by the easy accessibility of texts of this genre, hybrid characteristics, in which the communicative purpose is achieved in work between producer and viewer (to use a GDV‘s term). We base the construction work of reference in the categories applied in multimodal texts listed by Custodio Filho (2011), based on Cavalcante (2003, 2004) and the systems concepts of meanings of the Gramatica do Design Visual (GDV), Kress and van Leeuwen (2006), arising from studies in Social Semiotics. For the theoretical assessments about the sociocognitive, multimodality and referral perspectives, we have relied on Koch and Cunha-Lima (2007), Koch (2004, 2011), and Cavalcante Custódio Filho (2010), Bentes, Ramos and Alves Filho (2010) Capistrano Jr (2012), Ciulla and Silva (2008), Silva (2013) and Lima (2009). We conducted the research as follows: select the series in question, from a universe of 227 strips that are published on the author's website, chose three copies of the most recurrent themes, mentioned above; then checked how was the construction of the referent Overman, which processes Referencing were applied in the construction of meaning and how the categories of GDV assist in expanding the significance of this and others referents on the strips. Then developed analyzes based on theoretical basis adopted, so that we could realize the above aspects, and with this study, we confirmed our hypothesis that the construction of gender related comic strip is directly influenced by its multimodal nature, and the senses are constructed the intertwining of verbal and visual material.
