ÉTICA SEM PRINCÍPIOS E LITERATURA EM RICHARD RORTY.

Abstract

RESUMO: A pesquisa se trata da investigação acerca da compreensão do filósofo norte-americano Richard Rorty sobre o progresso moral e os meios que o viabilizam. O filósofo neopragmatista aponta para uma direção na qual a literatura parece ser um meio mais seguro do que qualquer teoria para a criação da solidariedade e de uma sociedade liberal democrática que a permita. Esta direção dada pelo filósofo, na qual a literatura é abordada pelo seu valor ético, é a chave para a compreensão da sugestão rortyana de como tornar cada vez mais possível o progresso moral, isto é, por meio da imaginação. A pesquisa estabelece, nesse sentido, a relação entre a concepção neopragmatista de ética sem princípios e a literatura, especificamente no que diz respeito ao gênero romance. Em relação ao valor ético do romance, Rorty sugeriu que uma sociedade que tenha retirado seu vocabulário dos romances, ao invés de tratados filosóficos ou teorias éticas, não se preocuparia em saber qual o significado da vida humana, ou o que é a natureza humana, mas como alcançar mais conforto, ou como o direito de cada um de ser entendido pode ser respeitado. Em outras palavras, o romance é o principal veículo capaz de aumentar a sensibilidade humana, isto é, motor essencial para o desenvolvimento do progresso moral, sobretudo da maneira como Rorty sugeriu a realização do que chamou de utopia liberal democrática......................ABSTRACT: The research it comes to the investigation about the understanding of the north-America philosopher Richard Rorty, about the moral progress and the means that enable. The neopragmatista philosopher into a direction where the literature seems to be a safer way than any theory for the creation of solidarity, and a democratic liberal society that allows it. This philosopher’s thinking, in which literature is understood by its ethical value, is the key to understand the Rorty’s suggestion, as it is increasingly clear the possibility of moral progress, all this through the imagination. This study search, in this sense, the connection between the neopragmatist conception about ethics without principles, and the literature, specifically regarding the novel genre. About the ethic value of the novel, Rorty suggest a society that has the vocabulary based on the language of the novels, rather than philosophical works or ethical theories, not bother to seek meaning in human life, or on human nature, but how to achieve more welfare, or, as the right of everyone to be understood must be respected. In other words, the novel is the main way capable of increases the human sensibility, this is, the fundamental way to the development of moral progress, especially the way Rorty suggested the realization of what he called democratic liberal utopia.
