OS SIAMESES SARAMAGUIANOS: O DESDOBRAMENTO DO EU NO ROMANCE O HOMEM DUPLICADO SOB A ÓTICA DA LITERATURA FANTÁSTICA

Abstract

RESUMO: A presente pesquisa tem por objetivo analisar a temática do Duplo n’O Homem duplicado, de José Saramago, pelo viés da literatura fantástica. Para isso, realizamos um recorte teórico-crítico da literatura fantástica, elegendo como base epistemológica o modelo estrutural proposto por Todorov (2008); explanamos o topos do Duplo, enquanto categoria concreta, com o intuito de definirmos o que é o desdobramento do Eu, bem como caracterizá-lo de acordo com os tipos e formas de materialização existentes e, por fim, efetivamos o exame analítico do desdobramento do Eu na narrativa em destaque. Nessa fase do estudo, tomamos o Duplo na acepção de Doppelgänger, tendo o sósia como forma de materialização desse, e usamos como referencial teórico os estudiosos que tratam de modo específico do topos do duplo, dentre eles: Keppler (1972), Chevalier (1999), Bravo (1997), Cunha (2009), Mello (2000), Bargalló (1994), Jourde e Tortonese (1996), Pélicier (1995), Guiomar (1967), Richter (1995), etc., bem como outros que tratam dele, de maneira geral, enquanto tema do Fantástico. Esta dissertação, justificou-se, no âmbito acadêmico, pela possibilidade de lançarmos uma nova perspectiva de leitura para o romance O homem duplicado (2002), ao invés do aspecto pós-moderno, intertextual, polifônico e alegórico, tão presente em estudos críticos referentes a esse texto de José Saramago. No âmbito social, o estudo da fragmentação do Eu no meio literário possibilitou compreendermos que o homem não é isto ou aquilo, pelo contrário ele é isto e aquilo, simultaneamente, ou seja, ele é a perfeita união dos contrários e qualquer tentativa de torná-lo uno é fracassada. Ao fim da nossa jornada, concluímos que o texto saramaguiano possui em sua estrutura textual a regra geral do gênero fantástico, a hesitação. Já o topos do duplo, após passar por muitas mudanças, tem se conservado presente na contemporaneidade com a figura do heterogêneo, revelando assim não apenas a quebra da unidade do Ser, mas sim seu fracionamento ad infinitum (cf. BRAVO), como vimos o caso do nosso protagonista Tertuliano, que chega ao final da sua caçada descobrindo ser triplicado e não só duplicado. Portanto, vislumbramos no caso dos siameses saramaguianos uma típica história de duplos, pois encontramos entre os pares duplicados, Tertuliano e António Claro, mais que uma simples semelhança, observamos uma ligação de ordem ontológica, ou seja, António Claro é o companheiro íntimo que Tertuliano carrega consigo desde que nascera, seu outro Eu com quem tem ligações profundas, motivo pelo qual o narrador os denominam de irmãos siameses............... ABSTRACT: The present research has as its goal to analyze the theme of Double in novel The Double, by José Saramago, through the lens of Fantastic literature. In order to achieve our aim, it was made a critical and theoretical selection on fantastic literature, choosing as our epistemological basis the structural model proposed by Todorov (2008); we explain the topos of Double, while specific category, in order to define what is the unfolding of the Self, as well as characterize it according to its kinds and ways of existing materializations and, lastly, we perform an analytical exam of the unfolding of the Self in the featured narrative. In this part of the study, we assume the Double in the sense of Doppelgänger, the double being the materialization of it, we used as theoretical framework scholars who deal with Double in the particular way of topos of the Double, among them: Keppler (1972), Chevalier (1999), Bravo (1997), Cunha (2009), Mello (2000), Bargalló (1994), Jourde and Tortonese (1996), Pélicier (1995), Guiomar (1967), Richter (1995), etc., just as other names that deal with it, on the whole, while topic of the Fantastic. This thesis is justified, in the academic sphere, by the possibility of reaching a new perspective of reading the novel The Double (2002), instead of postmodern, intertextual, polyphonic, and allegorical aspects so current in critical studies concerning this work of José Saramago. In social sphere, the study of fragmentation of the Self in literary field has allowed us to comprehend that human being is not this or that, on the contrary, it is this and that, simultaneously, and in other words, it is the perfect union of contraries and any attempt to turn it into a united being fails. In the end of our journey, we concluded that Saramaguian narrative has in its textual structure the rule of thumb of Fantastic, hesitation. Concerning of topos of the Double, we observed that after changing, it is still present in contemporaneity within the figure of the heterogeneous, revealing this way, not only the break apart of unit of being, but also its fractionation ad infinitun (see BRAVO), as we could see in the case of the protagonist Terluliano, who gets to the end of his story finding out about being trebled and not only double. Therefore, we envision in the case of Saramaguian Siamese the typical history of the doubles, since we found between the double pairs, Tertuliano e António claro, more than simple similarity, we noted a connection of ontological order, that is to say, António Claro is the intimate companion that Tertuliano carry within himself since he was born, his another Self which whom he is deeply linked to, reason why the narrator named them Siamese twins.
