TRAVESSIAS PELOS SERTÕES DO NORDESTE: uma guerra chamada cangaço entrementes a coluna prestes (1920-1928)

Abstract

RESUMO A presente dissertação tem por objetivo demonstrar o cangaço de Lampião e as articulações que culminaram na incorporação deste cangaceiro pelo governo federal como legalista nos chamados batalhões patróticos para combater a Coluna Prestes, por ocasião de sua passagem pelos sertões nordestinos, na década de 1920. A pesquisa utilizou o repertório consolidado pela historiografia ao referenciar autores que já se dedicaram, embora de forma distinta, sobre a mesma realidade que esta dissertação pretendeu examinar levando em conta a sua historicidade. O manuseio dos jornais como fontes históricas foi realizado com criticidade e atento aos locais de produção de discursos, inerente aos textos literários, o estudo utilizou uma abordagem com a noção de que eles sempre trazem algo da sociedade que a viu florescer. Teve como resultado a identificação de modalidades de cangaço, a construção de relações de poder entre parcelas da elite local, os ditos coronéis e o cangaceiro Lampião, este ingressou nas forças legalistas a serviço da República para combater a Coluna Prestes, que por sua vez, não foi aceita pela sociedade pastoril sertaneja. Lampião representou o esplendor do cangaço, enquanto a Coluna Prestes inaugurou o auge de contestação à Primeira República. O movimento tenentista não foi derrotado, nem aceitou a anistia, resolvendo marchar para o exílio, já o cangaceiro Lampião continuou na lucrativa atividade chefiando grupo de cangaço.

ABSTRACT The present dissertation aims to demonstrate the cangaço de Lampião and the articulations that culminated in the incorporation of this cangaceiro by the federal government as a loyalist in the so-called patrotic battalions to fight the Coluna Prestes, on the occasion of his passage through the northeastern hinterlands, in the 1920s. This research used the repertoire consolidated by historiography when referring to authors who have already dedicated themselves, although in a different way, to the same reality that this dissertation intended to examine, taking into account its historicity. The handling of newspapers as historical sources was carried out critically and attentive to the places of production of speeches, inherent to literary texts, the study used an approach with the notion that they always bring something from the society that saw it flourish. It resulted in the identification of cangaço modalities, the construction of power relations between parts of the local elite, the so-called colonels and the cangaceiro Lampião, who joined the legalist forces at the service of the Republic to fight the Prestes Coluna, which in turn, it was not accepted by the sertanejo pastoral society. Lampião represented the splendor of the cangaço, while Coluna Prestes inaugurated the height of contestation against the First Republic. The lieutenant movement was not defeated, nor did it accept the amnesty, deciding to go into exile.
