A “TERRA DOS CARNAUBAIS” EM TEMPOS DE AUTORITARISMO: A construção de representações legitimadoras da Ditadura Civil-Militar em Campo Maior-PI (1964-1979)

Abstract

RESUMO A presente dissertação de mestrado tem como objetivo analisar a construção de representações e memórias legitimadoras da Ditadura Civil-Militar em Campo Maior para compreender em que medida a produção desses elementos foi fundamental para a construção de um consentimento social sobre o regime autoritário nessa cidade piauiense, entre os anos de 1964 e 1979, esboçando as relações constituídas entre a política local e a nacional. Utilizamos como chave analítica para entender a problemática da pesquisa a cultura política campomaiorense, entendida nas perspectivas de Motta (2009; 2018) e Bersteisn (1997) percebendo-a como um elemento que proporcionou a construção de representações glorificadoras do regime militar na cidade. Nesta empreitada, analisamos alguns agentes legitimadores da ditadura em Campo Maior, tais como a própria política municipal, o jornal A Luta (semanário local) e as noções e valores de civismo e patriotismo, fortemente expressados na cidade no período. Inserido no campo da Nova História Política, o objeto em estudo articula discussões entre História e Imprensa, a partir de Capelato (1988), Peixoto e Cruz (2007), relacionando-o com o contexto da Ditatura civil-militar em que estava inserido o semanário, tendo como suporte os estudos de Kushnir (2001) e Fico (2019), Rezende (2013), Reis (2014) entre outros, a partir do uso da metodologia da análise de conteúdo das matérias do jornal, sendo que este se configura em um elemento imprescindível para a análise em questão. Diante das análises empreendidas, observamos que o discurso legitimador do regime militar foi intensamente produzido e divulgado na cidade campomaiorense, fazendo com que a ditadura fosse representada em Campo Maior como um importante capítulo da história nacional que seria digno de lhe serem entoados louvores, reverberando na imagem construída sobre o regime no presente em que tal texto é produzido.

ABSTRACT This master's thesis aims to analyze the construction of representations and memories that legitimize the Civil-Military Dictatorship in Campo Maior to understand to what extent the production of these elements was fundamental to the construction of social consent over the authoritarian regime in that city. from 1964 to 1979, outlining the relationships established between local and national politics. We used as an analytical key to understand the research problem the Campo Maior's political culture, understood from the perspectives of Motta (2009; 2018) and Bersteisn (1997), perceiving it as an element that provided the construction of glorifying representations of the military regime in the city. We analyzed some legitimizing agents of the dictatorship in Campo Maior, such as municipal politics itself, the newspaper A Luta (local weekly) and the civic spirit and patriotism, strongly expressed in the city at the time. Inserted in the field of New Political History, the object under study articulates discussions between History and the Press, from Capelato (1988), Peixoto and Cruz (2007), relating it to the context of the civil-military Dictatorship in which the weekly, supported by the studies of Kushnir (2001) and Fico (2019), Rezende (2013), Reis (2014), among others, from the use of the methodology of content analysis of newspaper articles, which is configured an essential element for the analysis in question. In view of the national proposals made to it, they observe that legitimized discourses were disseminated and disseminated in the larger city, causing the institution to be recognized in Campo Maior as an important standard in the history of history that would be praised, reverberating in history the image built on the regime in the present in which such text is produced.
