ENTRE O PORTEAU E O VOLANTE: Africanos redesenhando a Vila São José de Macapá – 1840-1856

Abstract

RESUMO: Este trabalho analisa as relações de interseção pelas quais os trabalhadores africanos foram se constituindo na região do Macapá, mais especificamente, como esses sujeitos sociais foram redesenhando através de suas experiências o espaço social urbano da vila São José de Macapá no recorte temporal de 1840 a 1856. Portanto, o estudo orienta-se em compreender os múltiplos desejos incontidos na formação social da vila de Macapá; a entrada de africanos para compor seu corpo social e as interseções ocorridas entre os diversos campos de poderes que constituíram a referida vila. A pesquisa foi realizada a partir de um plano teórico-metodológico que estabelece o conceito de interseção como relações sociais ou ações de poder fundadas entre o conjunto de forças existentes em um determinado espaço social. Experiências, por meio da quais, as partes que formam o todo constituem os elementos que simultaneamente, criarão novas operações e recorrentes sociabilidades, a partir dos hábitos e da “arte de fazer” de cada campo de poder. O projeto teórico contempla como objeto de estudo os trabalhadores africanos e sua interseção com outros seguimentos sociais na vila São José de Macapá, e revela as ocasiões que oportunizaram os africanos a se constituírem socialmente na vila, à medida que iam redesenhando esse espaço urbano a partir de suas vivências/experiências. Procurei empregar o termo trabalhador africano e não escravo, como forma de assegurar a identidade étnica do africano. ABSTRACT: The present work analyses the relationship of intersection through which African workers developed in the Macapá region, specifically, how these social characters reshaped, through their experiences, the urban social space of the village São José de Macapá from 1840 through 1856. Therefore, this study tries to understand the multiple wishes that are part of the social formation of village of Macapá; The entrance of Africans to consist its social body and the intersections occurred between the various fields of power that constituted the village. The research was done from a theoretical and methodological plan that establishes the concept of intersection as social relationships or deeds of power founded on the collection of forces that exist in a certain social space. Experiences, through which, the parts that form the whole constitute the elements that simultaneously will create new operations and recurrent sociability from the habits and from the “art of doing” of each field of power. The theoretical project considers African workers and their intersection with other social segments at the village São José de Macapá as its object of study and reveals the occasions that bring opportunities to the Africans in terms of social constitution in the village as they reshaped such urban space from their experiences. I’ll try to use the term African instead of slave, as a way to ensure the ethnical identity of the Africans.
