Abstract:
RESUMO: A. Ros e E. Vergasta estudaram em [9] resultados de rigidez para superfícies compactas
imersas com curvatura média constante (CMC) e fronteira livre em uma bola fechada B de
R3. Em particular, os autores mostraram que se £ e uma superfície compacta, orientável e
estável, imersa CMC com bordo livre em uma bola fechada B de R3, então a fronteira de
tal superfície é mergulhada e as únicas possibilidades são que ela seja um disco totalmente
geodésico, uma calota esférica, ou uma superfície que tem gênero 1 com no máximo duas
componentes de fronteira. No presente trabalho discutimos sobre o melhoramento provado
por I. Nunes em [5] onde o autor demonstrou que tais superfícies devem ter gênero 0. Tal
resultado é obtido como consequência de um resultado geral para domínios convexos de R3
sob condição de pinçamento da segunda forma fundamental do bordo, o qual é obtido através
da aplicação de um lema de estabilidade e uma modificação do argumento de balanceamento
do tipo Hersch.
ABSTRACT: In [9] A. Ros and E. Vergasta studied rigidity results for compact surfaces immersed with
constant mean curvature (CMC) and free boundary in a closed ball B of R3. In particular,
the authors showed that if £ is a compact, orientable and stable CMC surface immersed with
free boundary in a closed ball B of R3, then the the boundary of such a surface is embedded
and the only possibilities are that it is a totally geodesic disc, a spherical cap, or a surface
that has genus 1 with at most two boundary components. In the present work we discuss
the improvement proved by I. Nunes in [5] where the author showed that such surfaces must
have genus 0. This result is given as a consequence of a general result for convex domains
of R3 under a pinching condition on the second fundamental form of the boundary, which is
obtained through the application of a stability lemma and a modified Hersch type balancing
argument.
