VIOLÊNCIA SEXUAL CONTRA MULHERES ESTUDANTES DE ESCOLAS MÉDICAS NO PIAUÍ E FATORES ASSOCIADOS

Abstract

RESUMO: Introdução: A violência sexual é um evento prevalente contra mulheres estudantes de medicina ao redor do mundo. A exposição ao toque, contato físico e incitações sexuais inoportunas podem ocorrer em vários ambientes de educação e da prática médica. Objetivo: Analisar a violência sexual contra mulheres estudantes de medicina ocorrida em escolas médicas no Piauí. Métodos: Pesquisa de caráter exploratório, observacional e analítico, de natureza quantitativa e de abrangência local. A amostra foi composta por 211 mulheres estudantes de medicina no Piauí entrevistadas entre maio e novembro de 2021. Utilizou-se um questionário online que abordou aspectos sociodemográficos, informações da instituição de ensino/do curso e aspectos relacionados à violência sexual no âmbito universitário. O teste de qui-quadrado de Pearson foi utilizado para a análise univariada. As variáveis independentes foram submetidas a análise multivariada pela regressão logística múltipla, com cálculo de odds ratio (OR) e intervalos de confiança de 95% (IC95%). Resultados: A amostra foi composta principalmente por jovens de 21 a 25 anos (60,2%), estudantes de instituições públicas (55,5%), do 5º ao 8º período do curso (56,9%) que se autodeclararam cisgênero (98,6%) e heterossexuais (85,8%). A violência sexual nos cursos de medicina piauienses foi relatada por 55% das estudantes e, especialmente, como evento único por 69,3% delas. O tipo de violência sexual mais relatado foi comentários sexistas ou sexualmente degradantes (87,8%), ocorridos em ambientes de prática (55,3%), no 1º e 2º anos dos cursos (63,0%), em disciplinas do ciclo básico (69,2%). Os agressores foram na sua maioria homens (99,0%), com mais de 40 anos (60,4%) e professores (59,3%). Segundo o relato das estudantes, a violência sexual resultou em sofrimento emocional para 47,3% delas e a maioria não realizou denúncia (92,9%). No modelo final da análise multivariada, houve maior chance de violência sexual contra estudantes que se autodeclararam bissexuais (OR=3,87; IC95% 1,20-12,48) e de instituições de ensino pública (OR=3,12; IC95% 1,67-5,82). Conclusões: A violência sexual contra mulheres estudantes de medicina no Piauí mostrou ocorrência significativa, resultando em sofrimento emocional para as vítimas. Os agressores, na sua maioria homens com mais de 40 anos e professores, abordaram as estudantes com comentários sexistas ou sexualmente degradantes em ambientes de prática, nos primeiros anos dos cursos. Estudar em instituição de ensino pública e ter orientação sexual bissexual aumentaram as chances de sofrer violência sexual em cursos de medicina no Piauí. ABSTRACT: Introduction: Sexual violence is a prevalent event against female medical students around the world. Exposure to touch, physical contact, and unwelcome sexual incitement can occur in a variety of education and medical practice settings. Objective: To analyze sexual violence against female medical students that occurred in medical schools in Piauí. Methods: Exploratory, observational and analytical research, quantitative in nature and local in scope. The sample consisted of 211 female medical students in Piauí interviewed between may and november 2021. An online questionnaire was used that addressed sociodemographic aspects of the students, information from the educational institution/ the course and aspects related to sexual violence in the context of university. Pearson's chi-square test was used for univariate analysis. The independent variables were submitted to multivariate analysis by multiple logistic regression, with calculation of odds ratios (OR) and 95% confidence intervals (95%CI). Results: The sample consisted mainly of young people aged between 21 and 25 (60.2%), students from public institutions (55.5%), from the 5th to the 8th period of the course (56.9%) who declared themselves to be cisgender ( 98.6%) and heterosexuals (85.8%). Sexual violence in Piauí medical courses was reported by 55% of the students and, especially, as a single event by 69.3% of them. The most reported type of sexual violence was sexist or sexually degrading comments (87.8%), occurring in practice environments (55.3%), in the 1st and 2nd years of the courses (63.0%), in subjects of the cycle basic (69.2%). The aggressors were mostly men (99.0%), over 40 years old (60.4%) and teachers (59.3%). According to the students' reports, sexual violence resulted in emotional suffering for 47.3% of them and the majority did not report it (92.9%). In the final model of the multivariate analysis, there was a greater chance of sexual violence against students who declared themselves to be bisexual (OR=3.87; 95%CI 1.20-12.48) and from public education institutions (OR=3.12; 95%CI 1 .67-5.82). Conclusions: Sexual violence against female medical students in Piauí showed a significant occurrence, resulting in emotional suffering for the victims. The aggressors, men over 40 years old and mostly teachers, approached the students with sexist or sexually degrading comments in practice environments, in the first years of the courses. Studying in a public educational institution and having bisexual sexual orientation increased the chances of suffering sexual violence in medical courses in Piauí.
