EVASÃO NO CURSO DE BACHARELADO EM TURISMO DO CAMPUS MINISTRO REIS VELLOSO, DA UNIVERSIDADE FEDERAL DO PIAUÍ: um estudo de caso

Abstract

RESUMO: Este trabalho analisa a evasão no curso de Bacharelado em Turismo, no Campus Ministro Reis Velloso (CMRV), da Universidade Federal do Piauí (UFPI), na cidade de Parnaíba/Piauí, no período de 2014 a 2018, que segundo análises estatísticas preliminares realizadas constataram que dos doze cursos do CMRV, o de Turismo obteve o terceiro maior índice de evasão, 16,04%. Tal situação pode ser contrastante com a perspectiva do turismo da região, já que esta é considerada polo turístico e se caracteriza pelo número de cidades com grande potencial de desenvolvimento e expansão do turismo regional (SILVA, 2004; CARVALHO, 2010; MACÊDO, 2011; RAMOS, 2012), recebendo turistas de toda parte do território nacional e internacional. Portanto, questionam-se quais são os fatores que influenciam fortemente na evasão desse curso de Bacharelado em Turismo? O estudo é exploratório, com a utilização de procedimentos bibliográfico, documental e aplicação de questionário on-line disponibilizado através de link para o e-mail de todos os alunos evadidos do curso de Turismo no período de 2014 a 2018. A abordagem é quali-quantitativa. O tratamento e análise dos dados foram realizados com o auxílio dos softwares estatísticos Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) v. 20.0 e o NVivo v. 11. Os resultados mostraram que os motivos da evasão são ocasionados por fatores intrínsecos aos estudantes, como dificuldades financeiras, trabalho, problemas pessoais e familiares, mudança de curso, falta de interesse e desmotivação; fatores intrínsecos ao CMRV, como falta de assistência estudantil e por fatores extrínsecos ao CMRV, considerando as questões da formação do discente com as oportunidades de trabalho da área do curso. Em relação aos benefícios financeiros das políticas de assistência estudantil, é importante salientar que estas possuem limites de investimento nas IES, portanto, não contemplarão todos aqueles que precisam. ABSTRACT: This work analyzes the dropout in the Bachelor of Tourism course, at Campus Ministro Reis Velloso (CMRV), of the Federal University of Piauí (UFPI), in the city of Parnaíba / Piauí, from 2014 to 2018, which according to preliminary statistical analyzes carried out found that of the twelve courses at the CMRV, the Tourism course had the third highest dropout rate, 16.04%. This situation can be contrasting with the perspective of tourism in the region, which, being considered a tourist pole, is characterized by the number of cities with great potential for the development and expansion of regional tourism (SILVA, 2004; CARVALHO, 2010; MACÊDO, 2011; RAMOS, 2012), receiving tourists from all over the national and international territory. The main objective of this work is to analyze the reasons for dropout in the Bachelor of Tourism course at the Ministro Reis Velloso Campus of the Federal University of Piauí, in the city of Parnaíba / Piauí. Therefore, it is questioned what are the factors that strongly influence the evasion of this Bachelor of Tourism course? The study is exploratory, with the use of bibliographic, documentary procedures and the application of an online questionnaire made available through a link to the e-mail address of all students dropping out of the Tourism course in the period from 2014 to 2018. The approach is qualified quantitative. The treatment and analysis of the data were carried out with the aid of statistical software Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) v. 20.0 and NVivo v. 11. The results showed that the reasons for dropout are caused by factors intrinsic to the students, such as financial difficulties, work, personal and family problems, change of course, lack of interest and lack of motivation; factors intrinsic to CMRV, such as lack of student assistance and factors extrinsic to CMRV, considering the issues of student training with job opportunities in the course area. Regarding the financial benefits of student assistance policies, it is important to note that they have investment limits in HEIs, therefore, they will not include all those who need them.
