ALTERAÇÕES RENAIS CAUSADAS POR PERIODONTITE INDUZIDA POR LIGADURA FORAM PERSISTENTES APÓS A REMOÇÃO DAS LIGADURAS EM RATOS

Abstract

RESUMO:Introdução: O objetivo deste estudo foi elucidar se as alterações renais causadas pela periodontite tiveram reversibilidade após a remoção das ligaduras na periodontite experimental. Métodos: Vinte e quatro ratas foram divididas em três grupos: controle (sem periodontite), periodontite (20 dias com periodontite induzida) e P20-20 (20 dias com periodontite induzida e 20 dias sem periodontite para verificar a reversibilidade das alterações renais). Os seguintes parâmetros foram avaliados para acompanhar o periodonto: índice de sangramento gengival, profundidade da bolsa de sondagem, atividade de mieloperoxidase, altura do osso alveolar. Para os tecidos renais, utilizou-se a avaliação histopatológica, os níveis de malonaldeído (MDA), o teor de glutationa (GSH) e os pesos renais. No sangue, foram avaliados creatinina, ácido úrico, albumina, colesterol total, proteínas totais e glicose. Proteína total e creatinina foram investigadas na urina. Resultados: Os rins do grupo P20-20 não apresentaram reversão de alterações em relação ao grupo com periodontite ao MDA, GSH e avaliações histopatológicas. Por outro lado, apenas os níveis de colesterol total apresentaram reversibilidade no grupo P20-20 comparado ao grupo periodontite. Conclusão: As alterações renais causadas pela periodontite induzida por ligadura foram persistentes após a remoção das ligaduras em ratos nas condições estudadas. ABSTRACT:Background: The objective of this study was to elucidate if the renal alterations caused by periodontitis had reversibility after the removal of the ligatures in experimental periodontitis. Methods: Twenty four female rats were divided into three groups: control (without periodontitis), periodontitis (20 days with induced periodontitis) and P20-20 (20 days with induced periodontitis and 20 days without periodontitis to verify the reversibility of renal alterations). The following parameters were evaluated to follow in periodontium: gingival bleeding index, probing pocket depth, myeloperoxidase activity, alveolar bone height. For renal tissues, histopathological evaluation was used, as well as, malonaldehyde (MDA) levels, glutathione (GSH) content and renal weights. In blood, creatinine, uric acid, albumin, total cholesterol, total proteins and glucose were assessed. Total protein and creatinine were investigated in urine. Results: The kidneys of the P20-20 group did not present the reversion of alterations in relation to the group with periodontitis to the MDA, GSH and histopathological evaluations. On the other hand, only of total cholesterol levels presented reversibility in the P20-20 group compared to the periodontitis group. Conclusion: Renal alterations caused by ligature-induced periodontitis were persistent after removal of the ligatures in rats in studied conditions.
