O LEILÃO DO LOTE 49, DE THOMAS PYNCHON, E O MODELO TEÓRICO DE “OBRA ABERTA” DE UMBERTO ECO: forma, narrativa e mensagem

Abstract

RESUMO: A presente pesquisa tem como corpus o romance O leilão do Lote 49 (1993), de Thomas Pynchon, que é analisado sob a ótica da proposta teórica de obra aberta, de Umberto Eco, como formulado inicialmente em Obra Aberta: forma e indeterminação nas poéticas contemporâneas (1986), e reformulado em publicações posteriores, as quais foram aqui analisadas para uma maior compreensão e delimitação do projeto estético do pesquisador italiano. Na análise da narrativa investigamos os aspectos estruturais do romance para definir índices de indeterminação e espaços de ambiguidade que tornam possíveis O leilão do lote 49 possuir tamanha diversidade de leituras e, ao mesmo tempo, não ter sua narrativa encerrada em nenhuma delas. ABSTRACT: The corpus of this research is the novel The crying of Lot 49 (1993) by Thomas Pynchon, which is analyzed from the perspective of an open work theoretical proposal by Umberto Eco, as formulated initially in The Poetics of the Open Work (1986), and reworked in later publications, which is studied here for a greater understanding and definition of the Italian researcher aesthetic design. In narrative analysis, we examined the structural aspects of the novel to define the indexes of uncertainty and ambiguity that allowed The Crying of Lot 49 to have such diversity of interpretations without enclosing its narrative in any of them.
