SCHOPENHAUER E A ÉTICA DA COMPAIXÃO: as consequências da ação compassiva para a “formação” do caráter.

Abstract

RESUMO: O objetivo deste trabalho é analisar como o filósofo alemão Arthur Schopenhauer fundamenta a ética a partir da compaixão. Para tanto, partimos de uma questão-problema inicial: haveria a possibilidade de se pensar, em alguma medida, numa espécie de melhoria ética do ser humano, de acordo com a proposta schopenhaueriana? Para isso fizemos uma discussão sobre o desenvolvimento do seu pensamento filosófico, mostrando que o pensamento kantiano foi essencial para esse desenvolvimento. Partindo da divisão kantiana entre fenômeno e coisa-em-si, Schopenhauer desenvolve a teoria de que a coisa-em-si nada mais é do que a Vontade, que constitui o ser de toda a realidade, sendo o mundo e todos os fenômenos apenas uma representação dela. O mundo aparece assim sobre dois aspectos: como Vontade e como representação. Schopenhauer chega a essa conclusão a partir de uma metafísica imanente, ou seja, uma metafísica que toma como ponto de partida o próprio corpo, pois ele também é expressão dessas duas partes essenciais do mundo, vontade e representação. É o corpo a chave para a solução do enigma do mundo. Neste texto também procuramos discutir a teoria dos caracteres em Schopenhauer, dado que constituem o ponto-chave e o grande desafio para quem pretende compreender a fundamentação ética schopenhaueriana. Ao final, oferecemos algumas considerações, a título de conclusão. ---------------- ABSTRACT: The purpose of this paper is to analyze how the German philosopher Arthur Schopenhauer grounds his ethics upon compassion. We start addressing a complicated issue: would there be the possibility of thinking, to some extent, in a kind of ethical improvement of the human being, according to the Schopenhauerian proposal? For this we discuss the development of his philosophical thought, appointing Kantin thought as essential for this development. From the Kantian division between phenomenon and thing-in-itself, Schopenhauer develops the theory that the thing-in-itself is nothing more than the Will, which constitutes the being of all reality, the world and all phenomena being only Representation. The world appears thus on two aspects: as Will and as representation. Schopenhauer comes to this conclusion from an immanent metaphysics, that is, one that takes as its starting point the body itself, for it is also an expression of these two essential parts of the world, will and representation. The body is the key to solving the puzzle of the world. In this text we also try to discuss the theory of the characters in Schopenhauer, since they constitute the key point and the great challenge for those who want to understand the Schopenhauerian ethical foundations. In the end, we offer some concluding considerations.
