ABSTRACT: This study conducts a survey of archaeological sites with historical and pre-colonial characteristics which aims to characterize the process of past human occupation in the microregion of Brejo Santo, state of Ceará, based on studies of the spatial distribution of these archaeological sites in the region. For this purpose, it carries out preliminary bibliographic study on archaeological research carried out in the micro-region and the study of technical reports on preventive archeology research carried out in the area. According to Instituto do Patrimônio Histórico e Artístico Nacional (IPHAN) and its database Cadastro Nacional de Sítios Arqueológicos (CNSA) there are sixty-one archaeological sites in the micro-region of Brejo Santo. From the geographical plotting of these archaeological sites and the analysis of their spatial distribution, it was possible to produce the Archaeological Map of the Microregion Brejo Santo, state of Ceará, Brazil. The results point to the existence of eighty-six archaeological sites whose datings, obtained in archaeological excavations carried out in the 21st century in seven of these sites, indicate human occupations since the fourth millennium. The ethno-historical data collected also indicate indigenous and non-indigenous occupations from the 18th century onwards.

ABSTRACT: In this research, five archaeological sites attributable to the Nordeste Tradition of rock paintings, located in the rural area of Quiterianópolis municipality, in the State of Ceará, Northeast Brazil, were studied. The study emphasized the Angical community relationship with the neighboring complex of archaeological sites Expulsar. An attempt was also made to carry out an analysis based on the styles already established for the Nordeste Tradition of paintings regarding the figures existing in each of the investigated sites, focusing on the identification and analysis of emblematic scenes. Thus, it was tried to relate them to those of other archaeological sites attributed to the same paintings Tradition, aiming to propose possible routes of dispersion for their authors. The technical-stylistic analysis of the figures represented in Quiterianópolis archaeological sites made possible the assimilation with Sub-traditions and Styles of the Nordeste Tradition, namely the Várzea Grande Sub-tradition (Serra da Capivara, Serra Branca, Angelim and Salitre Styles) and Central Sub-tradition (Aquitã Style), with no cave paintings characteristic of Seridó Sub-tradition, such as the anthropomorphs “cashew head”. The detailed examination of pictorial panels found in these archaeological sites made it possible to identify some typical scenes from Nordeste Tradition of paintings, such as "family scenes", “tree scenes”, “front-profile scenes”, "hunting scenes with fence” and “horizontal anthropomorphs, in rows and in clusters”. Dispersion routes of the peoples who created the Nordeste Tradition rock paintings, including Quiterianópolis archaeological sites, in Ceará, were then traced from: (i) the analysis of rock paintings in typical scenes of this paintings Tradition, (ii) the abundance of archaeological sites with this paintings Tradition in certain geographical areas of Brazilian Northeast and of the State of Minas Gerais and (iii) the assessment of environmental aspects. The dispersion of rupestrian paintings from Nordeste Tradition, as a result from diffusion, with Serra da Capivara, in Piauí, as the only center of origin, does not seem sustainable today, given the new data found both in this research and in other existing ones. It is concluded, as more plausible, that such dispersion occurred not only from that time, but also from other centers or spaces, in which the authors of paintings Tradition were adapted, such as the Seridó Potiguar, Morro do Chapéu, in Bahia, and Quiterianópolis, in Ceará. It is admitted, however, that the paintings attributed to Nordeste Tradition are known to be more frequent in Serra da Capivara, Southeast of Piauí.

CASTELO BRANCO, Anne Kareninne Souza
ABSTRACT: The present work presents an archaeological study about the Fazenda Alecrim and the route of the old ways from the farm to the Villa of Campo Maior. This farm is considered in this research as a camp for Portuguese troops before the Battle of Jenipapo, held on March 13, 1823 in Campo Maior-PI, led by Major Fidié, in the context of the Independence of Brazil. In this locality the community tells stories about some places that remained in memory as points of encounter of the Portuguese troops when they returned from the Village of Parnaíba, as well as indicate the old ways that led to the Village of Campo Maior, where they are believed to have been traversed by Portuguese troops before the battle on the Jenipapo River. In this research we propose to investigate the historical data and map this place, the ancient ways starting from this locality called Angelim to the Village of Campo Maior, considering especially in this course the field where it is said to have occurred the Battle of Jenipapo. We will try to understand how Historical Archeology and especially Archeology in Battlefields can help in the formulation of the arguments, in the understanding of the concepts, and in the appropriate methodology for this type of research. The methodology used consisted of a historical survey of documents about the locality, about the old ways, visits to the locality for the recognition of areas, orality survey, mapping of the main points of the possible camping and the paths, photographic images collections and aerial images made by drone. In this research we will discuss with Andrade Lima (1993), Albuquerque (2009), Carvalho (2014), Cavalcante (2014), Constantino (1993), Johny (2012), Ramos (2014), Najjar Lara (2014), Enríquez (2014), among others. At the end of this research we intend to present the map of the route of the troops from the camp in Angelim to the village of Campo Maior.

A partir
ABSTRACT:The present dissertation aims to understand how ceramist groups in the pre-colonial period
"settled and lived" in interior regions of Piauí. For this, we made use of the set of archaeological
things evidenced and rescued in Archaeological Sites in the southwest of the State of Piauí.
Concatenating archaeological, ethnohistorical and anthropological data in order to help identify
pre-colonial human groups specifically in the Araripe plateau in Piauí territory, as well as to
outline new discussions. Realizing these "things" as mediators of human relations and diverse
agencies, human and nonhuman, it was intended to dialogue human relations and interactions
from the set of "things", since artifacts are human productions, soon they leave to be objects by
objects here to be treated as the essential things for the establishment and human experiences,
adopting the concept of things proposed by INGOLD (2012), MILLER (2013). As a
methodology for this dialogue, "things" were selected from three archaeological sites of the set
of 16 sites, in which they present fragments of polychrome pottery, perceptible for a
technological and morphological analysis, based on the theoretical precepts of the
Anthropology of Technology proposed by LEMONIER (1986, 1992) from the technological
analysis and morphology of some of these sets of things were made the hypothetical
reconstitution of the ceramic containers verifying the technologies used in the making of them,
as well as surface treatment techniques, perceiving similarities and differences. The result
allowed the construction of a narrative about human experiences, perceiving how things
interacted as expressions of the materiality of a style introduced and shared in a long history by
traditional communities, perceiving these intertwined in the process of teaching learning,
contributing to the establishment of individuals in that territory.
