ESTADO E CINEMA: Humberto Mauro e a configuração do debate sobre a brasilidade no Estado Novo (1937-1945).

Abstract

RESUMO: Este trabalho tem como objetivo analisar a participação do cineasta mineiro Humberto Mauro (1897-1983) na configuração do debate sobre a brasilidade no período do Estado Novo (1937- 1945). Tomamos como referência para esta análise uma série de palestras radiofônicas proferidas pelo cineasta na rádio do Ministério da Educação e Saúde, semanalmente, entre os anos 1943 e 1944. Operacionando os conceitos de práticas discursivas (FOUCAULT, 2008) e de lugar social (CERTEAU, 2007), investigaremos a narrativa de Humberto Mauro enquanto funcionário do Instituto Nacional de Cinema Educativo – INCE. O INCE foi uma instituição criada durante o regime autoritário do Estado Novo, período em que diversos meios de comunicações foram utilizados pelo governo como veículo propagador de projetos nacionalizantes. Assim, buscaremos analisar a produção discursiva do cineasta, seu lugar social de fala e sua articulação com o contexto ideológico em que estava inserido. Através desta pesquisa, objetiva-se também identificar e compreender diferentes concepções e projetos de identidade da época, contribuindo para um melhor entendimento histórico do período que abrange desde o início do Estado Novo até o final da década de 1940....................ABSTRACT: This work aims to analyze the participation of the filmmaker Humberto Mauro (1897-1983) in the debate on Brazilianness in the New State period (1937-1945). For this, we will analyze a series of radio lectures made by filmmaker in the radio of the Ministry of Education and Health, weekly, between the years 1943 and 1944. Employing the concepts of discursive practices (FOUCAULT, 2008) and social place (CERTEAU, 2007), we will seek to investigate the narrative of the filmmaker as official of the National Institute of Educational Cinema - INCE. The INCE was an institution created during Estado Novo's authoritarian regime (1937-1945), period in which various communications media were used by the government as spreader vehicle of projects nationalizing. We seek to analyze the discursive production of the filmmaker, his social place and its articulation with the ideological horizon that was inserted. Through this research, the objective is also to identify and understand different concepts and identity projects, contributing to a better understanding of the historical period spanning from the beginning of the Estado Novo until the late 1940s.
