Abstract:
RESUMO: O objetivo com este trabalho foi estimar os componentes de covariância e parâmetros genéticos das características peso ao nascer (PN), à desmama (P205), ao ano (P365) e sobreano (P550), utilizando modelos uni e multicaracteristicas com informações de 44.106 animais da raça Nelore, nascidos entre 1978 e 2011 da região Norte do Brasil. Os componentes de covariâncias e parâmetros genéticos foram obtidos pelo método da máxima verossimilhança restrita (REML), usando o aplicativo WOMBAT, com modelos que incluíram o efeito genético aditivo direto e materno, como aleatórios, e grupo de contemporâneo (sexo, ano e mês de nascimento do animal e da pesagem, rebanho e categoria (mamando ou desmamando)) como efeito fixo. Os coeficientes de herdablidade direta estimados para as características estudadas foram de média magnitude, variando de 0.32 (unicaracteristica) a 0.48 (multicaracteristicas). A herdabilidade materna para PN e P205 foram 0.16 e 0.08, respectivamente, indicando que diminuiu o efeito materno ao longo da trajetória de crescimento. A correlação genética entre as características foi alta, com valores positivos e superiores a 0.73. Os valores de herdabilidade direta indicam que os rebanhos da região apresentam variabilidade genética aditiva nessas características, portanto, espera-se progresso genético considerável utilizando essas características para a seleção.................ABSTRACT: The aim of this study was to estimate covariance and genetic parameters for birth weight (PN), weaning weight (P205), yearling weight (P365), and post-yearling (P550), using single and multitrait models, with information from of 44,106 animals from Nellore breed born between 1978 and 2011 in Northern Brazilian. The (co) variance and genetic parameters were obtained by using the Restricted Maximum Likelihood (REML) method, using WOMBAT software, with models which included direct additive genetic and maternal genetic effects as random effects, and contemporary group (sex, year and month of birth and of weighting, herd, and category (nursing or weaning)) as fixed effect. The coefficient of direct heritability estimated for traits in study presented average magnitude, ranging from 0.32 (single-trait) to 0.48 (multitrait). Maternal heritability for PN and P205 were 0.16 and 0.08, respectively, indicating that maternal effect decreased during growth. Genetic correlation between traits was high, showing positive values, higher than 0.73. Average magnitudes of direct heritability values indicate that Nellore herds from Brazil Northern have additive genetic variability for the traits studied. Thus, significant progress it is expected by using these traits for selection.
