A pichação é uma prática urbana realizada por jovens. Desde meados da década de 1980, observa-se a recorrência na formação de grupos juvenis que se debruçavam em praticá-la. Os primeiros deles apareceram inscrevendo frases legíveis ao anônimo, e, a partir dos anos iniciais da década de 1990, o caráter do que se inscrevia passava a ser restrito. Era a pichação na modalidade do xarpi que se iniciava em Teresina, cidade que contribuiu para os jovens se iniciarem como pichadores. O xarpi assume uma conformação estética que o distingue de outras modalidades de pichação. O estudo, que ora se resume, observou que a mudança estética que o xarpi sofreu divide a prática em duas fases. A metodologia que viabilizou essa e outras constatações conforma-se na entrevista, na coleta e registro de imagens e na visita ao arquivo público de jornais de circulação diária da imprensa oficial. Um dado sobressalente: a pesquisa que segue foi aprovada pelo Comitê de Ética e Pesquisa da UFPI, sob o número CAAE: 30313114.3.0000.5214, segundo comprova documentação em anexo. ABSTRACT:
The pichação is an urban practice carried out by young people. Since the mid 1980s there has been a recurrence in the formation of youth groups that leaned in practice it. The first of them appeared inscribing sentences readable to anonymous, and from the early years of the 1990s, the character of which was part began to be restricted.
