“NAS ENTRANHAS DO SERTÃO, NOSSA RIQUEZA É NOSSO CHÃO”: UM ESTUDO SOBRE A MINERAÇÃO NO TERRITÓRIO QUILOMBOLA LAGOAS (PI)

Abstract

RESUMO: O presente estudo se propõe a refletir sobre o conflito socioambiental no Território Quilombola Lagoas ante a instalação da SRN Mineração, tendo em vista que, nos últimos dez anos, têm sido registradas atividades de mineração em São Raimundo Nonato, sobretudo na área que abrange o Território Quilombola Lagoas. O referido território vem sendo avaliado para ações de empresas mineradoras, pois o Piauí é rico em minério de ferro em grande parte da sua extensão territorial, e tais empresas tem feito grandes investimentos com a finalidade de explorar esses recursos. Desta forma, o estudo versa, fundamentalmente, sobre a percepção da população do Quilombo Lagoas diante das ameaças advindas da atividade mineradora. A construção desse trabalho foi realizada a partir das vivências e narrativas dos meus interlocutores que me permitiram conhecer os principais acontecimentos em torno da mineração, suas percepções sobre a forma eles foram ou serão impactados. Assim, o foco etnográfico desta pesquisa está nos impactos socioambientais das comunidades quilombolas atingidos diretamente pela mineração, sobretudo da Comunidade Xique-Xique – lócus desta pesquisa – e no processo de mobilização e enfrentamento desses atores.ABSTRACT The present study aims to reflect on the socio-environmental conflict in the Quilombola Lagoas Territory regarding the installation of SRN Mineração considering that, in the last ten years, mining activities have been recorded in São Raimundo Nonato, especially in the area covering the Quilombola Territory Lagoas. The referred territory has been evaluated for shares of mining companies, since Piauí is rich in iron ore for much of its territorial extension, and such companies have been making large investments in order to exploit these resources. Thus, the study is fundamentally about the perception of the population of Quilombo Lagoas facing threats from mining activity. The construction of this work was made from the experiences and narratives of my interlocutors that allowed me to know the main events around mining, their perceptions about the way they were or will be impacted. So, the ethnographic focus of this research is on the social and environmental impacts of quilombola communities directly affected by mining, especially the Xique-Xique Community - the locus of this research - and on the process of mobilization and confrontation of these actors.
