IMIGRAR, TRABALHAR, LUCRAR: a trajetória Sírio-Libanesa em Codó-MA (1920-1960).

Abstract

RESUMO: O trabalho intitulado “Imigrar, trabalhar, lucrar: a trajetória sírio-libanesa em Codó-MA (1920-1960)” investiga o funcionamento e organização do mundo de trabalho sírio-libanês na cidade de Codó no período em recorte. Partindo do cenário transcorrido entre o final do século XIX e início do século XX, onde observa-se o ingresso de imigrantes de origem árabe, em especial sírios e libaneses e o seu estabelecimento na praça comercial da cidade, procura-se entender como, nas décadas seguintes, esses sujeitos passaram a ocupar posições de destaque na elite socioeconômica da cidade. O êxito alcançado pelo grupo suscita o interesse na identificação e análise das estratégias empregados por eles para o alcance dessa meta. Esta pesquisa dedica-se a entender esse processo de mobilidade econômica e social tomando as experiências de trabalho do imigrante como principal eixo discursivo. Nesse sentido, faz-se um exame da atuação sírio-libanesa na economia codoense entre as décadas de 1920 a 1960, caracterizando a presença sírio-libanesa na economia codoense e a partir disso, sua experiência migratória. Emprega-se nessa tarefa o suporte empírico de fontes orais, jornais, registros e atas da prefeitura de Codó e os conceitos de cidade, memória e representação no desenvolvimento narrativo. ABSTRACT: The paper entittled "immigrate, labor, profit: the syrian lebanese path in Codo-MA (1920-1960)" investigate the operation and organization of the world of syrian lebanese work in the city of Codo in the period in cutting. Starting from the scenary that took place between the final of the nineteen century and the beginnig of the twenty century,where it was observed the entrance of immigrants from Arabian origin, specially syrians and lebaneses and their permanecy at the comercial square of the city, it seeks to comprehend how, in the next decades, these people started to ocupy remarkable positions in the socioeconomic elite of the city. The success reached by the group raise the interest on the indentification and analysis of the estratagies used by them to conquest this goal. This Research dedicates to understand the process of social and economic mobility considering the work experiences of the immigrants as the main discursive axis. In this sense, its was made an exam of the syrian lebanese acting in the codoense economy between the decades of 1920 to 1960, characterinzing the syrian lebanese presence in the codoense economy and from this, its migratory experience. It was used in this task the empirical support of oral sources, newspapers, registers and protocols of Codo Prefecture and the concepts of city, memory, and representation in the narrative development.
