“A ESCOLA” EM MANCHETE: educação e sociedade codoense (1916-1920)

Abstract

RESUMO: Considerando a fertilidade das pesquisas na perspectiva histórica, na área da Educação e o diálogo permanente destas com novas abordagens e domínios – a exemplo dos estudos com imprensa e sua relação com a educação –, em busca de compreensão das realidades educacionais em diferentes lugares e contextos, a presente pesquisa se intitula ―A ESCOLA‖ EM MANCHETE: educação e sociedade codoense (1916-1920)‖ no espaço geográfico do município de Codó-Maranhão e tem como objetivo geral analisar a história da educação codoense articulando imprensa e sociedade codoenses no período de 1916 a 1920 com ênfase no jornal ―A Escola‖. O recorte temporal data o ano de fundação do Externato Codoense (1916), colégio responsável pelo jornal e o último ano de publicações do periódico encontradas (1920). De natureza histórica, utilizando-se da Teoria da História, o presente estudo tem como vertente teórica a Nova História Cultural adotando como aporte autores, como: Roger Chartier (2014) e Peter Burke (1991); Cultura Escolar com Julia (2001); teóricos da área da memória como Maurice Halbwachs (2003), Jacques Le Goff (2003) e Fernando Catroga (2001); da área da imprensa educativa como Antônio Nóvoa (2002), Helena Capelato (1988) e Regina de Luca (2015) e João Machado (1999) com seus estudos sobre a história codoense, entre outros. Considerando o jornal como documento, a metodologia adotada trata-se da articulação entre a Teoria da História e análise documental envolvendo a identificação, verificação e apreciação de documentos, utilizando-se de fontes documentais os jornais: ―A Escola‖, ―Correio do Codó‖, ―O Monitor Codoense‖, ―Diário do Maranhão‖, ―O Jornal‖, dispostos no acervo digital e obras raras da Biblioteca Pública Benedito Leite e na Hemeroteca Digital da Biblioteca Nacional, bem como arquivos do Instituto Histórico Geográfico do Codó, da Academia Maranhense de Letras, do Instituto Histórico Geográfico do Maranhão, fontes hemerográficas do Instituto Brasileiro de Geografia e Estatística e de arquivos pessoais cedidos à pesquisa. A proposta desta pesquisa que nasceu de motivações historiográficas que pudessem contar a história da educação codoense possibilitou como resultados, o conhecimento e registro das primeiras iniciativas escolares do município de Codó, além de permitir a compreensão de visões de mundo da época, divulgadas na imprensa, em especial, naquele que aponta ser o primeiro jornal escolar do município. ABSTRACT: Considering the fertility of historiographical research in the area of Education and the permanent dialogue of these with new approaches and domains - such as studies with the press and its relation with education - in search of an understanding of educational realities in different places and contexts. The present research is entitle in the study "A ESCOLA" HEADLINES: education and codoense society (1916-1920) in the geographic space of the municipality of Codó-Maranhão. The study has its general objective to analyze the history of Codo education articulating Codoes press and society in the period from 1916 to 1920 with emphasis on the newspaper ―A Escola‖ . The temporal cut-off dates the founding year of Externato Codoense (1916), the college responsible for the newspaper, and the last year of newspaper publications found (1920). From a historical nature, using the Theory of History, the present study has a theoretical aspect; the New Cultural History adopts contribution authors like Roger Chartier (2014) and Peter Burke (1991); School Culture with Julia (2001); memory theorists such as Maurice Halbwachs (2003), Jacques Le Goff (2003) and Fernando Catroga (2001); of the educative press area such as Antônio Nóvoa (2002), Helena Capelato (1988) and Regina de Luca (2015) and João Machado (1999) with his studies on Codo history, among others. Considering the newspaper as a document, the adopted methodology deals with the articulation between the Theory of History and documentary analysis involving the identification, verification and appreciation of documents. They do that by using documentary sources such as the newspapers "A Escola", "Correio do Codó", "O Monitor Codoense"," Diário do Maranhão ", and ― O Jornal ". All of those sources were used in the digital collection with rare works of the Public Library Benedito Leite and in the Digital Library of the National Library, as well as archives of the Historical Geographic Institute of Codó. The Maranhense Academy of Letters, Historical Geographic Institute of Maranhão and hemerographic of Instituto Brasileiro de Geografia e Estatística (IBGE) have personal archives assigned to the research. The proposal of this research that was born of historiographic motivations that could tell the history of the education of Codo has made possible the knowledge and record of the first school initiatives of the municipality of Codó. Therefore, it allows understanding of the visions of world of the time, in particular, in the one that claims to be the first school newspaper in the municipality.
