REFLEXÕES SOBRE A MODERNIZAÇÃO DE CAMPO MAIOR ENTRE 1930 A 1970

Abstract

RESUMO: Este trabalho procurou analisar o processo de modernização de Campo Maior no período de 1930 a 1970. A pesquisa objetivou compreender qual a relação entre o poder público e as principais transformações urbanas no sentido de modernizar a cidade, entre as quais se destacam: a implantação da energia elétrica, melhorias no sistema de abastecimento d’água através da canalização da mesma, calçamento e alargamento de avenidas e ruas, arborização e remodelação das principais praças da cidade, construção de obras de grande porte como: o novo mercado público, o Terminal Rodoviário Zezé Paz, a construção da nova sede da prefeitura, o “Palácio das Carnaúbas” etc. Constatou-se através da pesquisa empreendida para a construção desta narrativa que o poder público visava deixar a cidade mais limpa e saneada dando a ela um aspecto civilizado. Sendo que essas reformas estavam imbuídas de um sentido que projetava o progresso e desenvolvimento para a cidade. Dessa forma, buscou-se entender as justificativas apresentadas pelo poder público para a realização das referidas reformas, além de entender como a população representa, através da memória, as modificações ocorridas na cidade, uma vez que, muitas casas e prédios arquitetônicos de valor histórico, do período colonial foram demolidos e casas e terrenos foram desapropriadas para que acontecesse essas modificações na cidade. As fontes analisadas são constituídas por: decretos e projetos-leis, jornais, literatura, tabelas e dados estáticos, imagens e relatos orais através do emprego da metodologia da História oral. ABSTRACT: This work sought to analyze the process of modernization that in the period from 1930 to 1970. The research aimed to understand the relationship between the public power and the major urban transformations in order to modernise the city, among which stand out: the implementation of electric energy, improvements in the water supply system through the Canalization of the same, paving and widening of avenues and streets, afforestation and remodeling of the main squares of the city, construction of large works such as: The new public market, the bus Terminal Zezé Paz, the construction of the new headquarters of the prefecture " Palace of the Carnaúbas "etc. It was found through the research undertaken to construct this narrative that the public power was intended to make the city cleaner and more sanitized by giving it a civilized aspect. These reforms were imbued of a sense that projected progress and development to the city. In this way, it was sought to understand the justifications presented by the public authorities for the realization of these reforms, besides to understand how the population represents, through memory, the changes that occurred in the city, since, many houses and buildings Architecturals of historical value, of the colonial period were demolished and houses and land were disappropriated to happen these modifications in the city. The analyzed sources consist of: decrees and projects-laws, newspapers, literature, tables and static data, images and oral reports through the use of the oral history methodology.
