ABSTRACT: In this work were performed on the WSe2 monolayer, grown by CVD and transferred
to a SiO2/Si substrate, temperature-dependent and photoluminescence properties, by Raman
and PL spectroscopy. The morphology of the sample was confirmed by AFM revealing the existence
of polymeric residues and the ake height was 1,63 nm, while the expected for the WSe2
monolayer ~ 1 nm. The Raman A1g (out-of-plane) mode was the subject of the investigations
of this work, it was observed that with the temperature increase in the range of 98-513 K, the
A1g phonon wavenumber is linearly red-shifted, and by the slope Wavenumber vs: Temperature
the first-order temperature coeficient _ of -0,0044 and -0,0064 cm_1/K for suspended and supported,
respectively. The high value of the coefficient β for the supported sample, compared to
the suspended sample, is related to the increase of phonon anharmonicity due to the phonon
scattering with the rough surface of Si substrate. Grüneisen parameters were obtained by temperature
coefficients, thermal expansion coefficient and vibration mode A1g, for the suspended
and supported monolayer and the values were 0,73 and 1,06, respectively. These analyzes revealed
the inuence of Si substrate on the thermal properties of the monolayer WSe2 and may
be useful in the development of atomically-thin 2D material-based devices. Temperature and
excitation power-dependent PL studies are carried out to understand the properties of exciton
emissions and exciton dynamics. There was a PL emission peak of localized excitons between
1,64 and 1,69 eV from the Energy vs: Temperature graph, which has an asymmetric line shape.
Furthermore, exciton emission was observed that may be related to undesirable effects, such
as polymeric residues left after the transfer steps, substrate roughness, among others, seen through
the changes to lower energy values in the spectra. Therefore understanding the complex
excitonic properties of the monolayer WSe2 is of great interest to achieve new optoelectronic
devices.

ML não supervisionadas, a saber, Principal Component Analysis (PCA), K-Means Clustering
e Topological Data Analysis (TDA).
do modelo.
ABSTRACT: Machine Learning (ML) is a subfield of Artificial Intelligence, consisting of a class of algorithms that are able to extract information – i.e. “learning” – from a large amount of data.
These algorithms have been incorporated in the physical sciences as supporting tools to identify
patterns, for instance, in the study of phase transitions. Indeed, such techniques are placed as
promising methods to understand complex systems. Yet, despite the great efforts, the limits of
their applications are not entirely clear. In view of this, in this work we investigate the phase
transitions of the q-states Potts model, in the cases q = 3, 4, and 5, using unsupervised ML
techniques, namely, the Principal Component Analysis (PCA), the K-Means Clustering and the
Topological Data Analysis (TDA). The first two are concerned with dimensionality reduction
and clustering techniques, respectively, while the last one uses topological invariant properties
to separate data by similarity. The dataset is generated through Monte Carlo simulations, in
ranges of temperature that contain the critical temperatures of the model. The analysis of such a
toy model allows us to understand the details about the applications of these techniques within
the scope of CondensedMatter Physics and Statistical Mechanics. Using the PCA technique, the
critical points are identifiedwith good precision for all cases (q = 3, 4 and 5), through parameters
constructed from the principal components. In addition, we notice that the formation of clusters
at low-temperatures provides information about the symmetries of the Hamiltonian. Also, we
investigate the critical exponents, whose results are in rough agreement with the exact ones,
but with substantial finite-size effects. Moreover, we use the K-Means technique to analyze
the behavior of the clusters obtained through PCA, under temperature variation. This analysis
returned the critical points, in an approximation to the thermodynamic limit, with a relative error
of less than 1%, compared to the exact values of the Potts model. Finally, with the TDA method,
we obtain the critical points with very good precision, besides the fact that this technique has
a weak dependency on the system size. In summary, the critical points are obtained with good
precision using these three methods, and we expect that this detailed study may shed light on
the features of these techniques when dealing with phase transitions, therefore paving the way
to their usage in more challenging problems.

RESUMO: Neste trabalho realizados estudos usando modelo do comportamento crico do
A partir destas propriedades
ABSTRACT: In this work, we performed studies using the model of critical behaior of BCS
model on Solomon networks in the Monte Carlo simulation, in the 1-dimensional and
2-dimensional Solomon network. The paired groups interact have pairs with their closest
neighbors. Thus, after the interaction each individual will have a new opinion agreeing or
disagreeing a topic under discussion. Our main goal is to work with physical properties,
such as cumulative Binder U4, magnetic susceptibility and magnetization. From these
physical properties we extract the critical exponentsY/v, B/v e 1/v. Thus, we have seen
that the values found for the critical exponents for both 1-dimension and 2-dimension
are very close to the values already predicted in the literature. It also coincides with
Grinstein's criteria for models that show up and down symmetry.

ABSTRACT: Carbon is one of the most abundant elements in nature. The different hybridizations allowed
for carbon enable it to form distinct materials with a variety of dimensions, which is a
feature strongly related to the electronic properties of the carbon materials. Since the properties
of these carbon-based materials are directly related to their atomic structures, it is needed
a deep understanding of the relationship between these two features. Therefore, such electronic
features has motivated the investigation of many two-dimensional materials (beyond graphene,
which is a zero gap semiconductor), such as graphenylene, phagraphene, haecklites, and others.
Therefore, considering the idea of sp2 carbon systems with a structural unit different from that
of graphene, such as graphenylene, we propose in this work a hypothetical 2D-system where
the structural unit is a naphthyl group. According to the way these naphthyl units are arranged
in the structure, we can build two different 2D-networks. We named the first one as
naphthylene-α, and the second one as naphthylene-β. Besides performing calculations on these
two-dimensional systems, we also proposed and investigated the electronic properties of different
families of nanoribbons that can be constructed from these 2D-systems. All calculations
were performed using Density Functional Theory as implemented in the SIESTA code. Our
study shows that most of the investigated systems present a metallic behavior, and the states
close to the Fermi level are not edge states as in graphene nanoribbons, but rather they are
distributed over the internal regions of the structures.
